CASE STUDY · RETAIL & FRANCHISE

Scaling a franchise to 50+ locations without losing sight of a single one.

Red Barn is the largest franchisee in its system — a fast-growing, multi-state consumer services operator. Saber has been its data partner since 2019, building the reporting backbone that lets every store and headquarters see the same numbers, the same day.

Source of truth

The status quo

Data that was “good enough” — until scale made that a problem

As Red Barn grew from a handful of stores into the largest franchisee in its system, each location’s point-of-sale and operations platforms kept producing numbers that were fine on their own. But “fine, store by store” doesn’t answer the questions a growing franchise actually needs answered: how does a new location compare to its peers? Which stores are running low on the supplies they need before it shows up as a problem? What does a typical store’s ramp-up curve actually look like?

Getting to those answers meant pulling spreadsheets and batch reports by hand, store by store, and reconciling them after the fact — useful, but never fast enough to act on.

The Saber difference

One pipeline, every store, the same day

Saber architected a full Power Platform and Azure solution on top of Red Barn’s existing franchise systems: Power BI reporting, Power Automate pipelines that pull each location’s data automatically, and a custom Power Apps tool — the Red Barn Inventory App — that tracks consumable supply usage store by store, so managers know what each location needs before it runs short.

Where reporting used to mean exporting spreadsheets by hand, one store at a time, store and regional data now flows into a shared set of reports automatically — the same view, updated the same way, whether you’re running one store or looking across all fifty-plus.

Results

What changed

One source of truth, every location

Inventory, sales, and customer data are aligned across every store, so a store manager and an HQ executive are always looking at the same numbers.

Reporting that runs itself

Automated pipelines replaced hand-built spreadsheets and batch exports, cutting the manual work of getting store-level data into a usable report.

Faster ramp-up for new stores

New locations launch against real benchmarks from comparable stores, instead of guesswork about what a healthy ramp-up should look like.

A partnership that’s scaled with them

Saber has worked with Red Barn since 2019 — through its growth from a handful of stores to more than 50 locations across 10 states.

“Saber makes the reports and data flow accessible and lets us make faster, smarter decisions. It really is Business Intelligence.”
